ASIS Germany e. V. Conference 2018 was a great success – more than 150 participants from all over the world

For a long time, the organizers had been working towards the event. After the successful conference of ASIS Germany e. V. last year, the expectations of both the participants and the organizers were high. But the months of work and effort have paid off: More than 150 experts from the security industry participated in the ASIS Germany e. V. Conference 2018 at the Stock Exchange in Frankfurt am Main. This included specialists from Germany, Austria, Russia, Belgium, the UK and the US. Among these guests was also Peter O'Neil, CEO of ASIS International. This made it the largest event in the history of the German Chapter. The kick-off event, to which this year's sponsor WISAG invited on the evening of the previous day, was completely booked out many weeks before the conference started.

About the strategic aspects of Corporate Security and how to deal with error

The expectations of the participants were not disappointed. In the heart of Frankfurt, Deutsche Börse with its architectural combination of antiquity and modernity created a very decent atmosphere for the event. Already on the first day of the conference several facets of security management have been highlighted in numerous lectures. Thomas Tidiks, former Group Chief Security Officer of Zurich Insurance, discussed the strategic aspects of corporate security. Matthias Rosenberg, CEO of Controllit AG, presented the requirements for business continuity management for banks and insurance companies. Pilot and management consultant Eckhard Jann focused on how to correctly deal with error.

Panel discussion: Risk-based Pre-Employment Screening in focus

The second conference day was no less exciting: In this year's Russia Special, Dmitry Budanov, Elite Security, ventilated the special features of the security industry in Russia. Elexander Pisemsky, CSI Group, addressed specific challenges of fraud investigations in Russia and the CIS and made recommendations for the practice. A special highlight was the podium discussion on Pre-Employment Screening: Under the moderation of Katrin Neumann, Bernhard Maier, Sven Leidel, Eckard Neumann and Ante Gaspar discussed the importance and practical implementation of appropriate screening measures within the scope of staffing.

A perfect platform for knowledge exchange and networking maintenance

Once again, this year's conference has clearly shown that the concept is approaching. Professional platforms for the exchange of knowledge and the maintenance of professional networks within the industry are in a greater demand than ever – also across national borders. Reasons for this can be particularly found in the growing complexity of the different fields of expertise and the increasing requirements the industry has to meet. However, the organizers will not have much time to breathe as the next conference for 2019 is already in the planning stage.
